ILLEGAL information selling practices:
On August the 18th 2021, I contacted COSMIC INTERNATIONAL to learn about their services. After being told about their services by a sales rep, I was asked if I wanted to receive the quote via email. I consented to receive one quote via email.
Following this phone call, I have received communications from other moving company’s (via text, email, phone call). These company’s have my phone number, email address, home address, and plan of where I would like to move next.
I did not consent to have my number sold to other companies. This is HIGHLY illegal. You cannot just sell a user’s information without some kind of click agreement or a disclaimer by the sales rep. When my privacy is violated, I feel unsafe. The business should not be able to continue such practices and I am writing with the intent that the business should be reported to higher powers in order to protect consumers from company’s like Cosmic International who sale leads to local movers.
After I asked one of the local contracting company’s how he got my phone number he said we purchase leads. I said well the only company I have given my email to or called was Cosmic International and he said we do purchase leads from them.
When I confronted a customer service rep from Cosmic International she said we normally don’t do that. I said, The fact that you said normally means you cannot confirm this and is misleading about your practices. She said let me rectify my statement. We don’t do that. This business is all about making an extra dime off of YOUR information. Protect your privacy. Do not give them a call or they will sell you and your information out.
*I also left this review and filed a complaint with the BBB. And I intend to leave them a review on every review site possible to keep consumers informed!!
If I could give these COSMIC INTERNATIONAL guys a 10 star I would! These guys exceeded our expectations. They worked very professionally but also incredibly fast. We were packed and loaded within a day! The men who came and assisted the packing and moving were very polite, asked questions when needed, communicated with each other to ensure a smooth operation and were incredibly organized.
I would definitely use this company again and recommend it to anyone wanting a stress free move!
